A group of Christchurch landowners is to go back to the Environment Court to seek the right to build new houses on their land.

The High Court at Christchurch has ruled Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee was wrong to use his special powers to fast track housing development following the earthquakes.

A judicial review had been sought by a group of land owners who said a decision unfairly disadvantaged them and gave preferential treatment to other developers.
