Zoning appeals

Three hundred and thirteen residents in Christchurch have appealed against their land zoning since a review process was announced by the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority last Friday.

Owners of flat land have until the end of the month to apply to the Recovery Authority for a review, which will be carried out by an advisory group.

Of the 313 appeals, 268 are green zone property owners wanting to go red, and 25 are red zoned residents wanting to be rezoned green.

Recovery Authority chief executive Roger Sutton says the remaining applications include 17 people who want the technical category of their land changed.

While some green zoned properties will have a technical category, Mr Sutton says the advisory group will review only the overall red or green rating.
