Homeowners being given false hope: Labour

Labour says the Government is only giving false hope to homeowners in Christchurch who are challenging how their land has been zoned.

Earthquake recovery spokesperson Lianne Dalziel says the whole process has been cruel.

She says it has not been explained well, and an announcement on Friday that people can have the decision on their zoning formally reviewed had given some people false hope.

Property owners on flat land have until 30 June to apply to the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority for a review.

The CanCern group expects hundreds will ask for a review.

Spokesperson Leanne Curtis says people need to be able to get answers as to why their land is zoned a particular way.
