Christchurch mayor Bob Parker says council staff are working on creating temporary projects in the inner city, including art works, in order to attract investors, tenants and retailers back to the CBD.

Mr Parker says the projects are aimed at promoting confidence in the central city, much of which remains cordoned off as earthquake demolition work continues.

The first Central City Recovery Plan Quarterly Report was presented at a council meeting on Thursday which outlined the work undertaken over the past three months.

Mr Parker says the team has worked on designing planters, seating, edge restraints and surface treatments which can be moved as the red zone cordon is reduced.
