NZX 50 up 6 points on Tuesday

The benchmark NZX 50 rose 6 points to close at 3310 on turnover of $88 million at 5.06pm on Tuesday.

In currency markets the dollar was trading at 83.97 US cents, 78.97 Australian cents, 53.00 pence, 67.38 Yen, 0.6254 euro, and the Trade Weighted Index stood at 73.71.

Fletcher Building fell 5 cents to $6.34, Telecom was down 0.5c to $2.14, and Chorus rose 3c to $3.26.

Sky City Entertainment dropped 9c to $3.77, and Sky Television was down 3c to $5.12.

Tower rose 7c to $1.53 and Contact Energy was up 3c to $4.80. Port of Tauranga fell 5c to $10.90.

Air New Zealand was up 0.5c to $0.86.

Goodman Fielder was up 18c to 85c, after news that the Singapore palm oil company, Wilmar International, was trying to build a 10% stake.

New Zealand Windfarms was down 1c to 16.1c after reporting a half year loss, because of less wind than expected.

Diligent was up 10c to $2.80 after posting a maiden full year profit.

New Zealand Oil and Gas was down 1.5c to 73.5c.
