NZ dollar high

7:05 am on 9 February 2012

The New Zealand dollar has reached a five-month high against the US dollar as risk-friendly investors expect Greece to get its second bailout package.

The kiwi broke through 84 US cents on Thursday, to reach its highest level since early September.

But it has since slipped a little and is trading at 83.3 US cents.

The New Zealand dollar has also been helped by a steady Australian dollar, after the Reserve Bank of Australia kept interest rates steady on Tuesday.
