Bathurst pre-hearing conference on Monday

12:48 pm on 8 February 2012

Bathurst Resources of Perth says a pre-hearing conference for appeals of its Escarpment mine project will be held in Christchurch on Monday.

A plan by the company to develop the Escarpment coal mine project in Buller faces three appeals from local environmental and residents' groups.

Bathurst Resources managing director Hamish Bohannan says he hopes the appeals will be heard in the first half of the year, but that will be dependent on the judge's availability and the amount of time set aside for the hearings.

Mr Bohannan says he expects to know the formal court dates and timetable soon after the pre-hearing conference.
