More company directors received pay rises last year than in 2010, but many are earning a quarter what their Australian counterparts do.
The latest Moyle Remuneration Consulting survey shows the typical director earned a median $34,000 dollars in 2011 and, if they were based in Auckland, $45,000. Board chairs earned $63,000.
But directors working in similar-sized company in Australia directors are earning more than $100,000.
Moyle director Jarrod Moyle says the gap between New Zealand and Australian directors' fees is the widest in the survey's seven year history.
