Shoppers spent more than $100 million last Sunday on the busiest day so far in the lead-up to Christmas.
Paymark says a total of $117.5 million was by retailers on Eftpos, an increase of $6.7 million on the same day last year.
Auckland/Northland led the spending, with strong sales in Palmerston North, West Coast and Waikato.
Most of the spending on sports goods, appliances and beauty products.
