Stocks on Wall Street are mixed with investors finding few reasons to continue buying after two days of gains.
The Dow Jones Index on Wednesday was up 28 points at 12,178. The Nasdaq Composite was down 5 points at 2644.
The FSTE index in London fell 0.4%, the DAX in Frankfurt fell 0.6% and CAC 40 in Paris fell 0.1%.
Figures issued on Wednesday showed Australia's gross domestic product grew a better-than-expected 1% in the three months to the end of September in seasonally adjusted terms
The Australian 200 Index rose 30 points to close at 4292 and the NZX 50 fell 8 points to finish at 3283.
At 6.30am on Thursday, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 77.92 US cents, 75.79 Australian cents, 49.48 pence, 60.28 yen and 0.5795 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 68.83.
Brent crude oil was trading at $US111.23 per barrel and gold was trading at $US1734 per ounce.
