NZ sharemarket slightly up on Thursday

The benchmark NZX50 index was up 0.2% or 7 points on Thursday, to 3277 on turnover of $76 million.

In currency markets, at 5.20pm the NZ dollar was at 77.83 US cents, 76.18 Australian cents, 49.62 pence, 60.49 yen and 0.5788 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 68.82.

Fletcher Building was up 15 cents at $6.07, Telecom was down 4 cents to $1.99, Chorus was down 9 cent to $3.20 and Contact Energy was up 8 cents at $5.40.

Sky City Entertainment was down 2 cents at $3.36 and Sky Network TV was down 4 cents at $5.41.

Fisher & Paykel Appliances was unchanged at 35 cents and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 4 cents to $2.36.

Auckland International Airport was up 0.5 cent at $2.345 and The Warehouse was up 1 cent to $3.17.

Methven was up 2 cents to $1.15 after its half year profit fell by a quarter to $3.2m.

Freightways was up 2 cents at $3.37, Mainfreight was up 6 cents at $10.48 and Tower was down 3 cents at $1.48.

Sanford was unchanged at $4.40 after its full year profit fell nearly 11%.
