At close of trading on Friday, the NZX50 index was up 6 points, or 0.2%, at 3303 on turnover of $45 million.
In the currency markets, at 5.20pm on Friday the New Zealand dollar was buying 80.50 US cents, 76.75 Australian, 50.26 pence, 61.27 yen, 0.5761 euro, and the Trade Weighted Index stood at 69.71.
Telecom was down 2 cents to $2.51, Fletcher Building rose 16c to $6.61, and Contact was down 2c to $5.66.
Sky City Entertainment was down 5c to $3.43, while Sky TV fell 6c to $5.50.
NZO was up 5c to 70c.
Goodman Fielder remained unchanged at 68c.
Freightways was up 11c to $3.42 after reporting its highest first quarter profit since listing in 2003. Profit rose 19% to $8 million, while revenue rose 9% to $93 million.
Vector rose 2c to $2.55. The Maui gas pipeline, which it manages, has been closed due to a possible leak, affecting supplies to energy generators and large users.
Auckland International Airport is still expecting to make a profit of more than $130 million this financial year.
The company says international passenger movements in the first quarter rose 6.5% to 1.73 million, while domestic passenger numbers were flat.
