The benchmark NZX50 index closed 28 points, or nearly 1%, higher at 3449 on turnover of $1 million on Friday.
Fletcher Building was up 11 cents to $8.26, Contact Energy down 1 cent at $5.35, and Telecom up 7.5 cents at $2.675.
Sky City Entertainment Group was up 6 cents at $3.65 and Sky Network TV up 3 cents at $5.80, but Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 3 cents at $2.54
Mainfreight rose 3 cents to $10.25, NZX rose 7 cents to $2.4, and Auckland International Airport rose 1.5 cent to $2.31
Restaurant Brands was down 3 cents at $2.42, while The Warehouse was up 4 cents at $3.59.
Methven rose 10 cents to $1.57 after announcing its full-year profit will almost double this financial year, due to its British business returning to profit and lower operating costs.
The Port of Tauranga was up 4 cents to $9.29, and TelstraClear up 8 cents to $2.88.
In currency markets, the NZ dollar was at 86.22 US, 79.55 Australian, 52.86 pence, 67.76 yen and 0.5988 euro. The TWI stood at 73.78.
