The NZX50 benchmark index rose 33 points, or 1%, to 34 48 on turnover of $94 million on Thursday.
Fletcher Building was up 20 cents at $8.62, Contact Energy up 1 cent at $5.36, and Telecom up 3 cents at $2.455.
Sky City Entertainment Group rose 6 cents to $3.62, Sky Network TV rose 4 cents to $5.56 and Auckland International Airport was up 2 cents at $2.225.
The Warehouse was up 6 cents at $3.47, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare up 4 cents to $2.70 and Infratil up 2 cents to $1.81.
Tower was down 4 cents to $1.52 while Vector was up 3 cents to $2.54 and Ryman up 3 cents to $2.77.
Scott Technology rose 8 cents to $1.48, and Hellaby Holdings rose 6 cents to $2.40.
In currency markets, the NZ dollar was at 82.95 US, 77.21 Australian, 51.48 pence, 66.57 yen and 0.5714 euro, The TWI stood at 71.22.
