Air New Zealand says passenger numbers were 4.3% higher in March than they were in the same month a year ago.
Domestic passenger numbers grew 6%, while patronage on trans-Tasman flights rose 6.6% as the airline increased capacity.
Passenger numbers on long-haul flights fell 8%. The Christchurch earthquake on 22 February and the Japan earthquake on 11 March have significantly affected passenger numbers on the Japan route.
Group-wide yields for the financial year to date are up 1.1% on the same period last year.
