The US-based industrial equipment manufacturer SPX Corporation has bought the Auckland-based engineering company B W Murdoch for an undisclosed amount.
Established in 1975 as an electrical engineering consultancy, B W Murdoch now designs and builds processing systems for the dairy and beverage industries.
SPX Corporation is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. It has operations in 35 countries, employs more than 15,000 people and generates annual revenue of more than $5 billion.
Don Canterna, the president of one of the corporation's subsidiaries, SPX Flow Technology, says the purchase will improve B W Murdoch's ability to serve key customers like Fonterra.
