Cargo flows increase at Bluff

South Port in Bluff is expecting improved profits this year, after stronger than expected cargo flows.

About 1.9 million tonnes of cargo passed through the port in the five months to the end of November, about 270,000 more than the same period last year.

Chief executive Mark O'Connor says the increase is due to log exports and farming imports.

He says South Port's profits for the 2011 financial year are likely to top $3.9 million.
