Broadband continuing to improve - commission

The Commerce Commission says broadband in New Zealand is continuing to improve.

A report on broadband quality between January and June this year shows web browsing speeds are becoming less variable and internet availability is improving.

The commission's report also shows that during May and June, companies offering internet services through unbundled Telecom exchanges were 20% faster than those using Telecom's wholesale services.

In particular, Vodafone had a noticeable improvement in web browsing performance in Auckland.

The commission says it will continue to monitor unbundled service speeds to see if this is a trend.
