Postie Plus stores being refurbished

Postie Plus is giving its stores a new look in a bid to improve its profitability as sales and margins in the first quarter improve.

Chief executive Ron Boskell told the clothing retailer's annual meeting in Christchurch that sales in the past three months rose 6.3% compared with last year, while gross margins improved by 8.3%.

Sales at eight stores that have already been refurbished are up 15%.

The company, which also owns the Baby City chain, plans to refurbish 40 stores this year.

Shares in Postie Plus rose 1 cent to $1.81 on Wednesday.
