Contact Energy says a draft decision has granted consent to a proposed geothermal development in Taupo.
A draft decision from the Environmental Protection Agency board of inquiry proposes to grant the consents. A final decision is expected before the end of the year.
The proposed Tauhara II geothermal development would be on farmland about 5.5km north-east of Taupo. It would provide about 250 megawatts of electricity.
