Hands-off Govt policy liked by NZ Shippers Council

The New Zealand Shippers Council agrees the Government should take a hands off approach to shipping - but not too hands off.

A report commissioned by the Ministry of Transport released last week, recommended the shipping sector should be left to grow on its own, rather than being driven by the Government.

The New Zealand Shippers Council represents large importers and exporters, who together make up for more than half of New Zealand's containerised trade.

Chairman Greg Steed agrees with most of the report's findings.
