Good month for airline in August

More travellers from Asia helped to boost passenger numbers at Air New Zealand in August.

The airline carried 978,000 passengers in August, up almost 6% on the same month last year.

Patronage on routes to Asia, Japan and the UK, jumped almost 13%, while passenger numbers to and from North America and the UK rose 1.4%.

Passenger numbers on flights within New Zealand and to Australia and the Pacific Islands, were up 6% on last year.

The passenger load factor, which measures how much available capacity is being used, rose 1.5% to almost 82%. Capacity across all routes rose 5%.
