NZ and Australian markets up

The New Zealand stock market was up on Tuesday morning.

By 12:11pm, the NZX50 index had gained 11 points and was trading at 3190 on turnover of $31 million.

Fletcher Building was up 9 cents to $8.45 and Contact Energy was unchanged at $5.74.

Telecom was down 1c to $2.06 and Vector was up 1c at $2.12.

Air New Zealand was up 1c to $1.29, after Virgin Blue warned it might pull the plug on its trans-Tasman route.

Sky City Entertainment was up 1 cent to $2.87 and Sky Network Television was up 5c at $5.23

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was up 3 cents to $2.92. Mainfreight was up 12c to $7.12 and Steel & Tube was up 5c to $2.58.

The Warehouse was up 2c to $3.77.

Ecoya was up 0.2 cents to 82c after raising $4.75 million by selling shares to institutional and individual investors.

Across the Tasman, the Australian 200 index was up 21 points to 4636.

The New Zealand dollar was trading at 73.04 US cents, 78.30 Australian cents, 47.49 pence, 61.03 yen and 0.5580 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 67.43.
