Hotline set up for harassed staff at David Jones

1:05 pm on 7 August 2010

Department store David Jones has set up a hotline for employees wanting to complain anonymously if they are being harassed at work.

Chairman Bob Savage says the new measures are a direct result of sexual harassment claims made by a former store employee against former chief executive Mark McInnes.

Kristy Fraser-Kirk has launched a $A37 million sexual harassment lawsuit against the company.

Mr McInnes resigned as David Jones chief executive on 18 June.

The company has appointed an independent lawyer to deal with any future staff complaints that arise.

The ABC reports the new employee complaints handling procedure is separate from the companies internal structure to ensure transparency.

If any complaints are made against senior members of staff, the board of directors will be informed immediately.
