Credit card billings in March increased at their strongest rate in two years, as consumer confidence in the economy improved.
Figures issued by the Reserve Bank on Friday showed credit card billings in March rose a seasonally adjusted 1.2% to $2.7 billion.
That's an increase of 6.3% on March last year.
Westpac chief economist Brendon O'Donovan says the figures confirm a solid rise in electronic card retail spending in March.
The outstanding amount owed on credit cards increased by 1.6% in the year to March, to $5.3 billion.
