The New Zealand share market was down 12 points, or 0.4%, to 3135 at the close of trade on Wednesday. Turnover was $53 million.
Fletcher Building fell 8 cents to $7.75 per share, Telecom was down 1c to $2.34, while Contact Energy gained 5c to $5.85.
Auckland International Airport rose 1c to $1.95 after resuming trading as it raises money to pay back from buying a stake in North Queensland Airport.
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 2c to $3.37.
Sky City Entertainment fell 4c to $3.18, Sky Television Network was also down 4c to $4.74 but Air New Zealand rose 1c to $1.32.
Retailer The Warehouse was 3c lower at $3.82.
The Australian share market extended Tuesday's strong gains, driven by a solid lead from Wall Street and gains in mining stocks.
The All Ordinaries Index finished 1% higher to 4,673 and the ASX 200 was 43 points higher at 4,648, the ABC website reports.
