English football Premier League club Portsmouth could be declared bankrupt after being given a deadline to clear its debts by revenue officials.
HM Revenue & Customs filed a winding-up petition against Portsmouth at the High Court in London on 23 December. A full hearing is to be held on 10 February.
The club could be declared bankrupt and a receiver appointed.
Portsmouth disputes the amount owed and expects says it expects the demands to be withdrawn "forthwith."
The club says it has not been formally served with a winding-up petition.
