Asia-Pacific markets higher at close

Markets in Asia and the Pacific were higher at the close of trade on Monday.

In New Zealand, the benchmark index was up 24 points, or 0.7%, to 3122.

Top stocks were mixed. Telecom was down 1 cent at $2.78 per share at the close, Fletcher Building rose 9c at $7.95, while Contact Energy was unchanged at $6.15.

Sky City Entertainment fell 2c to $3.24, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare rose 2c to $3.47 and Sky Network Television was down 1c to $4.45. AMP slid 5c to $7.70.

The Australian share market gained, but trading was thin as Wall Street was closed for a public holiday.

The All Ordinaries Index was up 18 points to 4,461, and the ASX 200 rose 0.4% to 4,454, the ABC reports.

In Japan, the benchmark Nikkei-225 index climbed 133.83 points, or 1.31%, to 10,320.94.

The broader Topix index of all first section shares gained 8.86 points, or 0.95%, to 944.60, AFP reports.
