Telecom has reached an agreement with TVNZ and MediaWorks to show news and popular TV shows on mobile phones.
Programmes like Outrageous Fortune are included in the deal.
The service, which is available on Telecom's new XT network, will be free until November, when users will be charged a weekly or monthly subscription. Pricing levels have yet to be revealed.
The agreement will see Telecom match Vodafone, which has had a deal with Sky Network Television since 2006.
