The number of trades on the New Zealand stock exchange rose in August, but the value fell on the same month last year.
NZX says the number of trades rose to 53,000 in August, a 9% increase on the same month a year ago.
The total value traded fell 10% to $2.3 billion.
The daily average value traded fell by 11% to $109 million, but the result is the highest since September 2008.
Companies raised $7.94 million in capital during August, taking the total raised this year to just over $5 billion.
