APN reports increased earnings in New Zealand

APN News and Media, the Australian owner of The Listener, and the New Zealand Herald, says its earnings in this country increased by nearly 15% to $34 million.

Overall, the company reported an 11% rise in after tax profit to $A40 million for the first six months of the year, and earnings increased 10% to $A108 million.

APN says the New Zealand Herald website attracted 28% more readers than in the same period last year, and was earning more than $1 million a month in advertising revenue.

Daily circulation of the New Zealand Herald increased by 5% on last year to more than 600,000.
