Food prices rise by 0.3 percent in April

Food prices rose 0.3 percent last month on the back of more expensive fresh vegetables, which offset cheaper meat.

For the 12 months ended April food prices rose 0.5 percent, with fresh fruit and vegetables the main driver, while grocery and meat prices fell.

Food prices make up just under a fifth of the overall consumer inflation rate.
