Christchurch International Airport has announced a net profit of $37.8 million for the year to the end of June, up 110 percent on the previous year.
The airport company attributes the result mainly to increased revenue from the aeronautical side of its business, which rose 43 percent.
Non-aeronautical activities also rose by 10 percent. That side of the company includes a business park and a newly opened retail development, containing a supermarket.
International passengers were up 7 percent, including a 53 percent rise in those coming from China and a 37 percent boost in passengers from India.
The airport recently announced a new direct service by China Southern Airlines to Guangzhou.
