NZ market little changed, dollar mixed

8:27 pm on 27 November 2014

The New Zealand sharemarket was little changed today, with the benchmark Top 50 Index down 2 points to 5455.

The managing director of Salt Funds Management, Paul Harrison, said the market had a lot of corporate news to digest, delivering mixed results.

Gentrack's share price rose 9 cents to $2.24, Tower was up 2 cents to $1.96 and Trilogy gained 6 cents to 70 cents.

Air New Zealand's share price was up 12 cents to $2.34 but Orion Health fell 30 cents to $5.97.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand dollar was mixed as the Thanksgiving long weekend begins in the United States.

The senior client advisor at Bancorp Treasury Services, Peter Cavanaugh, said the holiday was likely to see the New Zealand dollar trade in narrow range.

At 5.20pm today, the dollar was trading at 78.97 US cents, 92.02 Australian, 50.01 British pence, 0.6314 euro, 92.69 yen and 4.85 renminbi.
