The produce grower and distributor's South American manager, Nick Fitzpatrick, said the value of the partnership and purchase of the land, in northern Peru, was not material and would not be disclosed.

However, he said the 50-50 partnership was signficant and would help the company meet the increasing global demand for quality Peruvian table grapes.

"This has been something that's been on the radar of ours for a while but we haven't really found the right partner or expertise to be able to develop the project so when we received the offer from Unifrutti to go into a JV or partnership to grow fruit in Peru, we thought it was a really good idea."
