The Singapore Competition Commission has cleared the proposed strategic alliance between Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines.

Air New Zealand in January announced the deal under which it would launch a daily service between Auckland and Singapore, replacing an existing five-day-a-week service currently provided by Singapore Airlines.

The proposal also enables Singapore Airlines to operate the Airbus A380 to New Zealand for the first time.

Air New Zealand last had services to Singapore in 2006.
