Melbourne Heart has confirmed that talks to sell the club are ongoing.
Without confirming the identity of the interested party, AAP reports the A-League side has confirmed several approaches to the club were received this year and that negotiations to sell the franchise were at an advanced stage.
"Over the last four months, the club's ownership has held discussions with one particular group who has expressed an interest in growing the club," a statement issued on Saturday said.
Recent reports have speculated the club is on the brink of a sale to Bart Campbell, a New Zealand businessman, for $A12 million.
AAP reports Campbell led a consortium that took control of NRL club Melbourne Storm in June.
A Heart spokesman declined to make further comment until a sale had been concluded.
The club has been bottom of the A-League since early November.
