Mighty River Power says Waikato Regional Council won't review the company's resource consent conditions for the operation of the Waikato hydro system. The next time the council will consider the matter is in 2018.
The council granted the consents in 2006 for 35 years until 2041, but included a review every five years if it deems the company's hydro operations are having effects on the environment which were not contemplated when the consents were issued.
Mighty River Power says the council has confirmed that, based on monitoring and scientific investigation, that there is no basis for a review in 2013.
