German exports down

5:46 am on 7 September 2013

German exports unexpectedly fell in July as deliveries to other eurozone members fell.

Seasonally adjusted exports fell by 1.1% in July from June.

The BBC reports exports to eurozone countriess, which buy approximately a third of Germany's exports, fell by 0.7% compared with the same month last year.

Exports helped the nation avoid recession and are behind an acceleration of economic growth.
