Offshore markets mixed

Wall Street was mixed on Tuesday, while European and Asian markets all fell.

After rising earlier in the day, the Dow Jones Index ended down 7 points, at 15,003. The SP 500 Index rose 6 points or 0.3%, to 1,652

The Nasdaq Composite was up 24 points, or 0.68%, at 3616.

In London, the FTSE 100 was down 0.19%, the DAX in Frankfurt was down 0.79% and the CAC-40 was down 1.35%.

The Australian 200 Index closed down 38 points, at 5078, but the NZX 50 rose 5 points to 4508.

At 8.30am on Wednesday, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 79.83 US cents, 87.96 Australia, 77.60 yen, 51.03 pence and 0.5983 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 75.21.

Brent crude oil was trading slightly lower at $US112.68 per barrel and gold was trading at $US1372 per ounce.
