The accounting body CPA Australia is calling for clarity from Australia's political parties, saying taxes and jobs are key issues for the election on 7 September.

CPA Australia represents more than 144,000 finance, accounting and business professionals in 127 countries.

The group says the latest economic figures show the country is at a tipping point, making this a watershed election.

CPA chief executive Alex Malley says the most vexing issue for companies is high transaction costs.
