Morningstar has given New Zealand's managed funds a below average rating on its Global Fund Investor Experience Report.
The report evaluated countries on four measures: regulation and taxation, disclosure, fees and expenses, and sales and media.
It's rated New Zealand at C- which is an improvement as a result of ongoing changes in regulation and disclosure.
However, it says the country lags behind most of the world with low levels of disclosure.
