News Ltd will introduce metered paywalls for its major websites from next week and readers will be asked to pay for its digital services.
The Daily Telegraph in Sydney and the Herald Sun in Melbourne will be the first.
News Ltd also expects to introduce a metered paywall for its AdelaideNow and The Courier-Mail online in June.
News Ltd chief executive Kim Williams said the sites would have up to 20% more content than before.
The news.com.au website reported that visitors to The Daily Telegraph website will be able to view five articles per week before being asked to register.
AAP reports users who register will be able to read a further 15 stories per week.
