Sharemarket closes down

The New Zealand sharemarket ended the week down with the NZX50 index 21 points (0.5%) lower, to close at 4055. Turnover was $144 million.

Among the major changes, Telecom was down 6 cents to $2.26, Fletcher Building lost 20 cents to $8.25, Chorus was up 8 cents to $2.92, and Contact Energy rose 5 cents to $5.39.

SkyCity Entertainment Group ended the week down 5 cents to $3.79, Sky Network TV was down 4 cents to $4.79 and The Warehouse shed 1 cent to close at $2.97.

Trade Me was unchanged at $3.94, Diligent Board Member Services gained 16 cents to $5.46, Xero was up 10 cents to $7.70, Nuplex gained 7 cents to $3.19, Metlifecare was up 6 cents to $3.13, and Restaurant Brands ended up 4 cents at $2.76

Ebos was down 14 cents to $8.36, Hellaby Holdings was down 14 cents to $3.01, Briscoe Group shed 9 cents to $2.14, New Zealand Refining was down 7 cents to $2.43, Rubicon lost 6 cents to 26 cents and Skellerup was down 5 cents to $1.53.

In currency markets, at 5.20pm on Friday the New Zealand dollar was buying 83.03 US, 79.48 Australian, 51.08 pence, 69.68 yen, 0.6291 euro, and the TWI was at 74.12.
