McKesson to buy Christchurch software firm

7:31 am on 8 November 2012

McKesson Corporation, a healthcare conglomerate in the United States, is planning to buy Emendo, a health services software firm in Christchurch, for an undisclosed amount.

Emendo develops and sells software called CapPlan which helps hospitals forecast and manage patient demand, allowing them to move resources to the right areas at the right time and reduce costs.

McKesson, which is a Fortune 500 company, estimates there is more than $US700 billion in waste across the US healthcare system and says Emendo's CapPlan product can help reduce that.
