NZX 50 falls again, by 10 points

The NZX 50 index fell 10 points (0.3%) on Tuesday to close at 3941 on turnover of $85 million.

Fletcher Building dropped 15 cents to $6.92, Chorus fell 2 cents to $3.36, and Sky City Entertainment fell 1 cent to $3.87.

Sharp falls were recorded by Kirkaldie & Stains, which dropped 30 cents to $2.95, after the retailer lost $773,000 for the year to the end of August, compared with a $56,000 loss in the previous year. Its revenue fell 3% to $34 million.

Trade Me fell 21 cents to $4.24, Ebos Group fell 9 cents to $8.19, and accounting software retailer Xero was down 7 cents to $5.48, while The Warehouse slipped half a cent to $3.20.

Sky TV rose 4 cents to $5.38, Telecom rose 4 cents to $2.42, and Diligent rose 5 cents to $3.75.

Nuplex finished the day up 5 cents at $3.05, and Michael Hill rose 3 cents to $1.20

At the close of business, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 81.98 US cents, 79.29 Australian cents, 51.13 pence, 65.4 yen and 0.6351 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 73.25 points.
