New Zealand share market up

The stock exchange's benchmark NZX50 index rose 24 points, or 0.6%, to close at 3965 on turnover of $96 million on Wednesday.

At 5.08pm the NZ dollar was buying 81.76 US, 79.31 Australian, 50.68 pence, 64.31 yen and 0.6244 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 72.67.

Telecom was up 3.5 cents at $2.435, Fletcher Building was down 17 cents to $7.35 and Contact Energy was down 4 cents at $5.31.

Auckland Airport was up 0.5 cents at $2.64, SkyCity Entertainment Group was up 8 cents at $3.90 and Sky TV Network was up 5 cents to $5.11.

Fisher & Paykel Appliances was up 1.5 cents at $1.235 and The Warehouse was down 8 cents to $3.12.

Hallenstein Glasson was up 3 cents to $4.85, Nuplex was up 8 cents to $3.14, Tower was up 2 cents to $1.84 and NZX was up 2 cents to $1.17.

Comvita was down 15 cents to $3.83 and Refining NZ was down 9 cents to $2.76.
