Contact Energy electricity customer numbers dropped slightly last month.
Monthly operational figures shows the company had 443,000 electricity customers at the end of July, 500 fewer than at the end of June.
However ,the numbers is up by 1% compared with last July, when it stood at 438,500.
The number of monthly gas customers remained static at 62,500, while the year-on-year number rose.
Hydro storage at Contact's North and South Island reservoirs were below mean for July .
The average wholesale price was $80 per megawatt hour for the North Island and $82 for the South Island.
