Exporters positive about future

12:25 pm on 26 July 2012

Export New Zealand says exporters remain upbeat, despite a high New Zealand dollar and poor growth in some parts of the world.

The survey found just over halfthe respondents expect their profitability to improve during the next year, while more than a thirdintend to employ more people.

A fifth of exporters expect orders to rise substantially, while almost half believe it will happen slowly.

The survey found exporters believe the main obstacle to trading more is demand, volatile exchange rates, funding for developing export markets and product price competitiveness.

Export New Zealand surveyed 169 exporters.
