Internships for post students

7:15 am on 11 July 2012

Seventy postgraduate students will be given internships in some of New Zealand's most innovative companies under new funding announced by the Government.

Science and Innovation Minister Steven Joyce says $2.1 million will be dedicated to the scheme, which will allow the students to work for six months on research and development programmes.

He says the internships provide the students with valuable experience and allow the companies to benefit from their talents.

Last year, 50 businesses took part in the scheme.
